Knocked around El Camino College for no good reason until summer of 1968. Three years in & around Vietnam gave me a good reason. Joined LDS church in September 1972, married Denise Anderson in November 1972, first child in November 1976. Music AA from Cypress College (1975), Biology BA from Cal-State Fullerton (1978), never worked in that field. PC hobbyist in CP/M, MS-DOS, UNIX/Linux/Android, and Windows. Typesetter, lounge singer, technical writer, 7th Grade Life Sciences teacher, curriculum developer, defense industry project manager. Un-retired this year as a tech editor at Aerospace Corp.

School Story:

Freshman at Aviation High in Manhattan Beach (now a park) coincident with JFK assassination. Moved from Redondo Beach to Torrance. Left West High track and cross-country my senior year, to have time for Mr. Fenn's 30-member folk group, "The Tamburlaine Singers." Expelled to Redondo Union High 2nd semester for being late every day, and graduated from there - but West High is still 'my school.'

Happy (upcoming) Birthday, Paul! Yeah, high school is a kind of fantasy period, where impossible dreams flourish anyway. Then post-high school reality smacks you in the face, and you start grappling with real life. Still, it was where we learned to get along with people way different from us. Some of my most painful memories sneak back and remind me not to think too highly of myself, I'm capable of genuine idiocy. And every now and then I remember how good it was to just spend time with people I liked and admired. I could have done better, but it made me who I am, and I'm learning to be comfortable with my changes. Good luck to you, hope your birthday is memorable and pleasant. :)

Happy Birthday, Linja! I finally figured out how to get the West site to lemme know what's happening... so if you've done the same, maybe you'll get this. I seem to of missed about everything, the big reunion & all. I didn't hear about it 'til I got onto Lake Shasta in a houseboat with friends & fambly, and it was over before I got back. (sigh) Life's lost opportunaries... anyways, enjoy your day!
