The date of death was sometime in 2009 or 2010. I do have that info, but it's not at my fingertips right now. Philip's sister, Anne, told me the circumstances of his death, but those circumstances were less than dignified (some would say the circumstances were embarrassing or shameful). Therefore, to maintain the family's privacy, it would be best not to repeat what those circumstances were. Philip and I grew up together. We were best buddies. We went to the same elementary school in Torrance (Flavian Elementary) from kindergarten through 8th grade. His dad was the owner of Anza Hardware, which was located at the intersection of Anza and 190th. He is survived by his three sisters (Anne, Laurie, and Sheryl), and by his son, and by (as of 2012) his mom and dad. The last time I talked to Anne, Laurie and Sheryl was in 2012, and at that time both his parents were still alive. Philip and I both graduated from West High in 1974.
