Scott was one of my very close friends at West.  I have many fond memories of us just hanging out, listening to music, working on cars and cruising Harbor Drive in Redondo riding in his Judge.  We grew apart as soon as he met Lori and got married.  It was kind of sad how we went our separate ways so suddenly after he met Lori. I tried to reach out to him on many occaision, he never returned my calls but that was of his choosing and I accepted it.  Many years down the road I got a call from my friend Mike who was a cop and took a dead body report at the scene of a workplace suicide, it was Scott.  I remember sitting in my office and crying for what seemed to be hours.  It had been 14 years since I saw him and had any contact with him but the pain and grief was as he was still my best friend.

I went to his service and it was sad that none of his old friends from West were there.  The only people who attended were friends he had met after we parted ways in his new life as an aerospace engineer.  I don't know what was going in his life where he was in such despair that the only solution he could come up with was to take his own life.  As I saw his two little daughters at the grave site ceremony, I couldnt help but think what a selffish act it was to leave them alone and abandom them in the ultimate separation.  Talk about a permanent solution to a temorary problem.

Rest in peace my friend.  I know that you're free of whatever demons possessed you and if I know you, you probably have a garage in a nice corner of heaven working on everyone's car.  Not that cars ever break down in heaven.  Take care and I'll see you soon some day.  Hopefully not too soon.

Alex

Alex,

I am so sad to read that Scott has passed away.  He was in my German class (if I remember correctly,) and was so funny and always happy.  Just a super nice guy.  I know that he must have been in a very bad place to have taken his life.  I remember him fondly and pray that he is now at peace.
