Bruce lived directly across the street from our house all of my childhood. He and I were either close friends or fighting like cats and dogs depending on the week. By the time we had graduated from high school Bruce had become one of my best friends. By that time his family had moved to Hysperia Ca. and I ended up moving out of state but I could always count on Bruce to call just when I really needed a friend and we would make fun of each other and laugh for hours. Bruce passed in 2007. He was suffering from a spinal condition that I can't remember the name of, something like aracno... Some sort of spider reference because his spine was coming apart like in a spder web fashion. Very painful and in the end the doctor's gave him a box of Demerol shots and he just self medicated depending on how bad his pain was. One night his pain was severe and he took too much of the med and he passed in his sleep. I had to work and missed his funeral so to me a lot of times it doesn't really feel like he's gone and I find myself expecting his phone call. I've actually picked up the phone and started dialing him and then remembered... I miss you Brotha!
